House Strikes A Blow To ObamacareAs you probably have heard, the House of Representatives has voted to fund government through December 15th of this year and to defund Obamacare. In a bi-partisan vote (unlike the passage of the bill which went along party lines) of 230-189. Now the Senate will take up the Continuing Resolution, so the battle is on!
Congressman Bill Flores sent out a press release about his vote to defund Obamacare.
“Following passage of the continuing resolution, I, along with all of my fellow Texas Republican colleagues, sent a letter to all the Senators asking them to continue the fight to stop ObamaCare. For the 2 ½ years I have been in Congress, the House has been vigilant in working to repeal this government takeover of health care – especially now as we are seeing the adverse affects that the implementation of this law is having on businesses and families alike. Now is the time for the Senate to follow the lead of the House and ensure ObamaCare is stopped.”You can read the full release

So, Now What?The US Senate will take up the House's CR and vote, there are a number of scenarios that could happen, including a possible filibuster to be led by Senator Cruz. Senator Cruz issued the following statements, in part:
“Today, the House of Representatives did what Washington pundits only a few weeks ago said was impossible: a strong bipartisan majority voted to defund Obamacare. This is a victory for House conservatives, and it is a victory for Speaker Boehner and Republican leadership.
“The American people overwhelmingly oppose Obamacare — a program which is killing jobs, dragging down the economy, and harming the most vulnerable among us. They deserve a fight — and House Republicans are leading that charge.
“But the House was just step one. Step two is the Senate, where all accounts suggest Harry Reid plans to use procedural gimmicks to try to add funding back in for Obamacare.
