January News! - We're baaaaack!
We're baaaaack!
Dear Tea Party Supporter,
We hope you enjoyed your holidays with friends and family. The Waco Tea Party members were scattered hither and yon to spend time with family and friends.... and now we're back! We're ready to hit the ground running in the fight to take our country back.
If you need assistance with a New Years resolution, here is one suggestion: Pledge to inform, involve and activate 12 people into tea party movement this year! That's only one a month, you can do it!
We have some exciting news, and some disappointing in this month's newsletter. We also have many calls to action, so please make time to complete just one.
Please share our newsletter with your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, church members and others. This may help you complete your resolution!
Events!
What a busy month January is turning out to be! We have a number of events we have been working on for this month, and February is shaping up to be just a busy.
If you have not signed up on their website, please RSVP on our Facebook page event by clicking here. This training is valuable for all activists, even if you are not part of the tea party movement you will learn tools and techniques to assist you in your efforts.
The cost is $20.00 per person, you can pay in advance or at the door. Lunch is provided.
The January meeting will focus on our February 20th Tea Party event. If you would like to volunteer or assist with the planning please brave the cold and join us. If someone wants to bring hot cocoa, coffee or tea please let us know (they sure would be appreciated).
The Waco Tea Party is not organizing this event, however we are participating in it. The Burleson Tea Party is also participating, so if you would like to join the caravan to Austin meet us at noon at the American Bank off I35. Please do not park in their lot (we do not have permission).
This event is not sponsored by any group, politician, political party, tea party or organization. This is a call to action for all Texans!
We are all uniting to encourage Governor Perry and our state legislators to "Stand Up For Texas" against the federal government in relation to health care.
How can Texas protect itself from an out of control federal government? Nullification. Nullification is not secession. It is the process through which the power of the 10th amendment can be exercised. Click here for more information on the nullification process. http://www.notintexas.org/products/nullification.htm
Join us and ten of thousands of your fellow Texans as we rally at the south steps at the Capitol in Austin. Purpose? For as many Texans as possible to call upon our Governor to issue an urgent call for a special session of the Texas legislature - the first step in the process of procedurally enacting nullification.
Area citizens can meet up and caravan down to Austin with members of the Waco Tea Party. Burleson Tea Party will also be caravaning down, we'll join them on the way!
*** Leaving Waco at NOON to be at the Capitol by 2:00!*** *** Meet Up Spot is at the American Bank (off I35, the round bank*)
*If you wish to car pool please make arrangements with your friends and family as to where you will meet up. Please do not leave your vehicle at the parking lot we are leaving from, we don't have permission to leave parked cars there.
You MUST register to vote by February 1st in order to vote in the primaries. Voting is a right we should cherish and exercise, do the right thing this year, VOTE!
Of course, leave it to the politicians to create more news than we can keep up with! We appreciate everyone sending us newsworthy information! If you have anything you would like included in our emails or newsletters please let us know.
Health Care - The Senate passed their version of the health care bill on Christmas Eve. Now the House is working on combining the two monstrosities ... behind closed doors (no surprise there!). C-SPAN Chairman Brian Lamb has asked Congress to open access to the negotiations to C-SPAN cameras. (click here to read the letter).
If you believe transparency in government is important, please call your Congressman and let him know you support C-SPAN's generous offer to inform citizens of the back door deals, payoffs, bribes, kickbacks, earmarks, pork, or other nefarious acts (also known as "negotiations") that are going on in Washington, D.C.

Internet Take Over - "Net Neutrality" or "Open Internet" is a power grab plan by the FCC. Americans for Prosperity sent out a message this week asking citizens to voice their opinions on the plans to turn the internet into a public utility. Below is an excerpt of the message:
"Open Internet" or "net neutrality" sounds simple - force phone and cable companies to treat every bit of information the same way - until you realize that modern networks are incredibly complex, with millions of lines of code in every router. Making sure services like VoIP, video conferencing, and telemedicine (not to mention the next great thing that hasn't been invented yet) get priority may be necessary to make the Internet work, but the government is considering regulations that will make it illegal to prioritize traffic. Heavy-handed regulation could destroy private investment in the Internet, in turn forcing taxpayers to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to keep the Internet functioning, bringing government ownership and control."
Oh, and make sure you are on our phone tree, just in case these bozos are successful. This way if the scoundrels decide to shut our internet off, we can reach you the old way, by land line phone. Or smoke signals if those go too!

Texans to be taxed by the mile?!- Texas is joining other states in studying a new way to generate tax revenue... tax by the mile. Yes, a tax for every mile you drive. While cars are getting better gas mileage, revenues from gas taxes are drying up. The tax payer can't win for losing! So, some genius has decided to try to tax us by the mile. Our question to the Texas legislature and to the Texas transportation gurus is this "Are you going to repeal the gasoline tax at the pumps?" Now, don't expect them to, because really, how would they tax all the gas used in other engines? And what about the farmers? What about aviation?
Contact your State Representative and State Senator to express your opinions. Don't hold back. Really, tell them how you feel. They are not mind readers. Silence in consent, DO NOT CONSENT!
The Waco Tea Party board members were very saddened by this story. We attempted to contact Doc Anderson for a comment, but were told he was very busy dealing with clearing the matter up.
Representative Anderson has been a strong voice for conservatives in central Texas, and has won many awards for his fiscal responsibility.
We strongly suggest and sincerely hope he will hire a CPA to assist him in putting the problems behind him and avoiding them in the future.
By the way...
If you are not following us on Twitter or Facebook, check out the quick links (look to your right, at the top). If you are not on Twitter or Facebook, why not? Come on, it's easy. It's addicting, and a time waster, but hey, it's better than FOX for keeping you informed at a moments notice. Oh, and you'll not miss the major stories of the day, unlike the main stream media.
Oh, and hey what's up with the Waco Tribune not including the tea party movement as one of the top ten stories of year? Most major newspapers and many news outlets sure did. FOX even had a story about the top then that were missed by MSM, and the tea parties were number nine. I guess they need the crow bar award (you know, the one given to people so they can pull their heads out of their bleeeps).
Also, we are encouraging each of you to use our message boards. If you are a candidate or staffer or elected official you may post messages to the masses there. If you find an interesting story, please share it on the message board, we can not forward emails en mass. OR share it on Facebook. If you need the rules to posting, let us know. Don't be offended if we delete messages that does not follow our guidelines, it's nothing personal.
Keep the faith, keep fighting, and don't give up. We are making a difference! Don't believe us? Look at the politicians retiring from office or changing parties. You have them running scared, kind of like rats jumping from a ship (by the way, anybody have a good mouse trap?).
In all seriousness, look back to a year ago. Look how far we've come!
Sincerely,
The Waco Tea Party Team
